Camping

Camping is a big part of the annual Pack 624 Scouting program. We’re fortunate to have some great Scout camps ripe for exploration in the Olympic Pennisula and Cascade Foothills.

If your family is new to camping, joining the Pack for a day or night is a great way to get started. Pack 624 has a mix of experienced leaders, who were Scouts in their youth, and others who joined to gain that experience. Either way - Pack camping provides an opportunity to share the load of prep, set-up, cooking, etc with the group.

Fall / Spring FAMILY CAMP

Pack 624 organizes fall and spring family campouts. These are Pack-organized, but hosted at a Scouts BSA property, such as Camp Edward, Fire Mountain Scout Camp, or Camp Parsons - all within a 1-2 hour drive from Mercer Island.

These campouts are two nights (Friday-Saturday), with organized breakfast/lunch/dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. The parents from each Den volunteer to cook and organize a meal.

Scouts (and their whole family) are welcome to attend as much of the weekend as their schedule permits.

Pack 624 reserves a camp site; sign-up happens directly with the Pack, with a meal stipend paid through the pack website.

RESIDENT SUMMER CAMP

Pack 624 organizes a contingent to attend Chief Seattle’s annual Cub Scout Resident Summer Camp, usually held at Camp Edward , Thursday - Sunday (3 nights) in July or August.

Activities include knot tying, swimming, rowing, rock climbing, cooking, crafts, BB guns, hiking, and archery.

Interested scouts must register for camp directly with the Council. In 2024, Pack 624 is attending camp session 4, August 22-25th.

Winter Camp

Chief Seattle Council organizes a winter camp at Camp Sheppard in January/February/March. Scouts can attend for a day and/or stay overnight in heated cabins.

Activities include hiking, archery, BB guns, and snow tubing.

Sign-up directly with the council via the link below.
